Moonlight Villas on the West End of Negril, Jamaica - my heart’s home. After several years of fighting the nonsense of staying on the beach, we moved to the cliffs of the West End, and stayed at a larger nearby property for many trips; okay, but busy and rather impersonal. I’d walk by Moonlight daily, but it is a gated property with two very friendly but intruder alarmed (woof, not arf) dogs, alongside the lap dog Zza Zza. In any case, I never explored the property until friends were staying there in (I think) early 2006. Once I entered the yard, I was immediately in home mode, and I’ve never looked back.
The rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds and seating. The view from all rooms is priceless. All rooms have a refrigerator and coffee maker, and there is a full kitchen upstairs for guests to use. (Please clean up after yourselves in our community kitchen ☺)
In 2009 we decided to marry, and asked Debbie (our host and friend) if we could have the ceremony at Moonlight . For a small wedding (we had 22 guests, and there was room for more), the grounds are perfect, and Debbie and her staff made sure our day was perfect in every way. When we arrived "home" that night after the reception off property, Debbie had flower petals and candles gracing our lovely room. Nice touch!
If you, a potential guest, are looking for a small intimate property where you make friends and spend quality time with those people, this is the place for you!
Debbie is the best host I have ever encountered. She makes sure her guests have everything they need/want, but she is not intrusive. One of the things I love about MV, is the way Debbie treats her small staff. She treats them like the wonderful, helpful people they are, and I’ve never heard her talk down to them. They have become my family, too.

As far as I’m concerned, Moonlight Villa is the absolute best place to stay in Negril & is my “home away from home.” It has everything that I need & desire in a place to stay! The rooms are huge & include a double bed, twin bed, loveseat, coffee table, an adequate number of lamps & a dresser with mirror. Each room has many of the conveniences that will allow you to comfortably spend more time there rather than wandering around looking for things you need – a half-refrigerator (bigger than a mini-fridge), coffee maker, mugs, glasses, wine glasses, plates, bowls, silverware, can opener, etc. There is a CD player & a TV (never turned that on!). The bathroom has adequate space to put all your bathroom necessities out on, the shower pressure is good, the water is hot & towels are provided. Each room has a little private alcove area facing the sea, where you can sit in a wicker loveseat or large chair along with a coffee table. There are also beach towels, sunscreen, some snorkeling equipment & floaties provided for your use.
Moonlight Villa is on the cliffs & right above the beautiful blue Caribbean Sea, facing west! The sunset is right there every night. Snorkeling is just a few steps down the steps. The property is very quiet & the ambience is peaceful. Each morning, you can awake when you want, make your coffee, go sit on the cliffs’ edge & gaze at the sea. If you want some company, there will be a few other guests to talk with. If you want to make your own breakfast, there is a shared full kitchen upstairs with stove, oven, microwave, full-sized refrigerator, sink & every kind of pot, pan, big bowl, dish & utensil you could ever want to cook with. However, if you want to go out to a restaurant, there are many very close by. One of my favorites, Pee Wee’s is right next door to Moonlight Villa; there you can get a wonderful breakfast that is quick & affordable, along with a great sea view!
During the day, you can hang out in the yard in a hammock, barca lounger or chair, snorkel or swim in the sea, walk the West End Road, the beach or downtown Negril, go on an excursion. . .there are many things to do here that are all close by! However, all you may want to do is to just unwind & relax; Moonlight Villa is the perfect place to do this!
One of the special things about this place is its owner, Debbie Lightheart. Having worked for many years previously in the security field, she maintains an extremely safe & secure property. She also knows everything about what there is to do in Negril & can direct you to anything that you are looking for. Most importantly, though, Debbie is a fine person with a wonderful heart who you will enjoy getting to know & watching the sun set every evening with. Usually joining her at dusk time for this event are a couple of her local friends, just as wonderful as she is. I found that I really looked forward to the setting sun & the conversations we would have then! Omar, the groundskeeper & maintenance man, and Joy, the housekeeper, are two of the finest people you will ever meet & you will also enjoy talking with them. Finally, the Moonlight Villa family is completed with Louie, Rebel & Zza Zza, the canine crew who always alert you when someone comes calling & provide sure security & companionship.
I was lucky enough to spend Christmas Day at Moonlight Villa in 2008 & it definitely ranked as one of the best Christmases I’ve ever had. All of the people there for the day were easy-going, laid-back & fun, the food was scrumptious & the specialty drinks were fabulous. Everybody pitched in & made something to eat or provided a beverage. Moonlight Villa is just a fantastic place to spend any day of the year!!

I have been staying at Moonlight Villa for nearly the past 15 years of my nearly 30 in Negril. For the first few years it was not there otherwise i know i would have found my way there sooner.
I love the villa. IT is my home away from home. I think most people do love Negril however to really have a place that feels like home that you can come to year after year and be welcomed is the best. Debbie and her dogs make the place even more fun and comfortable. The Villa itself could not be situated in a more beautiful place, right on the sea with not a lot of rooms so that it is friendly and easy. The neighborhood is the best in the West End with No Limit Bar and Peewees right there and L&M Store for anything one might possibly need. There are plenty of wonderful little places to eat in the neighborhood and it is very friendly. You will feel like a local in no time.
Moonlight Villa is just the best... perhaps even the West Ends best kept secret...
It is hard to keep it that way, though some of us who love it always hope that it will remain so.

Casual comfort is the best way we can describe Moolight Villa. Debbie is a wonderful host and creates a wonderful, laid back atomsphere. The property is very well maintained and has amazing views. It is the perfect spot to watch for dolphins or take in one of Negril's famous sunsets! Zsa Zsa, Louie & Rebel, the resident dogs, are also a delight! We have dubbed them, Our dogs away from home. We have enjoyed each stay at Moonlight Villa and look forward to coming back soon!

Here is why i like to stay at the moonlight villa. I wake up early and turn on the coffee maker. My room is large with a new king size bed. I walk out the door and there is a great view of the ocean (heck you can lay in bed and watch the ocean). Next I might go up stairs to cook breakfast. If i want one served to me I only need to walk a few yards. There is also a convenience store yards away that has everything. The view of the ocean never gets old as it is only yards from your door. . I love to watch the local fishing boats go by. I love to do nothing while I'm there. The people that seem to stay there are always a unique mix. What is different about moonlight villa is that you are staying at a place where you feel like you are visiting a friend and not staying at a hotel. Debbie the owner is a good person and will take care of you. I look forward to my next visit there.

Moonlight Villas is the Best! After having visited the island for over 20 years I finally found the place that's comfortable, quiet and a great value. It's centrally located on the West End within walking distance to just about anywhere along One Love Drive. Beautiful sunsets and great snorkeling right off the cliffs. Moonlight Villa is always my 1st choice!

Short and sweet for me: “The first time I stayed at Debbie’s, I was with my best friend, who had never been out of the country, no the less without her parents. Debbie made us feel like we were in our “home away from home”. The atmosphere and vibes are fantastic. The dogs definitely add a great touch of being at home!! I love Debbie and Moonlight Villa and will stay nowhere else in Negril!!! JAH LOVE!!

This was my first trip to Jamaica and it won't be my last. We stayed at the Moonlight Villa November 20 to Dec 01 2009. I must say that the owner, Debbie and her gracious staff made me feel like part of the family. I never thought I was a dog person, but after this vacation thanks to Debbie's adorable 3 dogs, I've been converted. They are the security team for the property and work for chin scratches & belly rubs.
I met some great people also staying at Moonlight Villa and made some great new friendships. Waking up every morning overlooking the cliffs to the Caribbean is the best way to enjoy your morning coffee to the max. Debbie was so accommodating in every way, and knowledgeable on anything about the Island that we had inquiries about. If it was happy hour or the best places for local cuisine she knew where to send us.
Some mornings we would go across the road to pick up fresh squeezed OJ from Milli and then head over to PeeWee's next door to Moonlight Villa and have Elvis prepare a great breakfast for us. There was a convenience store half a block away that carried anything we seemed to need during our stay. The best way to end the day was watching perfect sunsets right outside the room in a chair. There is a great little bar right across the road called No Limit that is within crawling distance if your legs get wobbly.
Overall Moonlight Villa was a great way to experience what it must feel like to live the laid back Jamaican lifestyle firsthand.

Debbie,
Words can't express our appreciation for you going above and beyond to make our wedding everything it was and so much more.
What a mistake it was to stay at a supposed "5 star resort" and have a one star experience. You, on the other hand, turned our 2 weeks of Jamaica into a 5 star experience, and that, we can't thank you enough for!!!!
Your attention to detail was impeccable, you took care of things I would have never thought of.
We loved every of your paradise you shared with us, and what a paradise it is. I have incredible memories that will last a lifetime.
You staff and family (Kwako and the dogs) were also just a great pleasure to meet. Please give our best to them.
We can't wait to come back!!!!!!!!!
Thanks again for everything ONE LOVE TO ALL

The only thing I need when staying at Moonlight Villas is more time. Time to enjoy the view, the vibes and the wonderful people who are attracted to this very special place. My home away from home with my chosen family of friends....... Life is Good and at Moonlight Villas life is great.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Moonlight Villa this past January for four weeks and.....to put it bluntly, it was a blast. I can't even begin to tell you how good it was but I'll try.
Debbie, the grand dame of the resort knows how to make you feel at home! As soon as we walked onto the property we felt good vibes. Debbie was found and came to meet us and then took us to our little cottage which had all we needed to live nicely. Dishes, coffee maker which was regularly used, stereo and she let us choose from her rather large selection of music! The place had all you need to be comfortable, just had to go get groceries and beer and the like, the next day then done!
We did a fair bit of enjoying all of Negril and mixed it up with just hanging at the resort or near the resort at Pee Wee's next door. The location of Moonlight Villa is choice in my opinion, what with L&M Grocery store and No Limit Bar and Pee Wee's bar and Tony's jerk barrel across the street (that guy could get a review himself.....too good!!) etc etc....Lots of great places nearby with lots to do!
The staff at Moonlight Villa are all friendly and willing to help out if needed and to just chat it up for a minute or two. Debbie and her staff are real good at making you feel welcome and that's a good thing! She even has this neat little thing on Sunday mornings called Ceasar Sunday and.....well...What can I say? You just gotta go and find out! Bring Clamato juice! And maybe a bottle of Prince Igor! lol
We had the pleasure of meeting all kinds of cool people from all over the place and it is a testament to Debbie and the runnings at Moonlight Villa as to how all of the guests just seemed to click and hit it right off!
The sea views from Moonlight Villa are real nice and the sunsets are spectacular!!! Lots of great photo ops for those that are picture takers. If you look closely, you'll find all kinds of creatures around the place! I usually sat out around 5:00am and watched the sun come up from behind while checking the computer (that was the only time of the day I was on) So peaceful and kind cool to see the fisherman out there fdoing their thing, especially knowing they went there in the dark! Cool stuff.
All in all, we really enjoyed our stay with Debbie and company and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Moonlight Villa to anybody! They say (who are they?) the west end is the best end. Maybe it's because of places like Moonlight Villa!

Dear Debbie,
When we began looking for a place to stay in Negril last year, we knew we didn't want the traditional hotel resort experience. Luckily, what we got was more than we expected in Moonlight Villa.
From the moment you picked us up at the airport, we knew we were in for a unique adventure. Your warmth, generous hospitality and knowledge of Jamaica, and especially Negril, were the perfect blend of ingredients for a "real" Jamaica experience!
Your friendly security team greeted us with enthusiasm and affection, making us feel at home, while away from our own pets. Your relaxed atmosphere, comforting touches in our room, and general advice for enjoying Negril put us at ease, making it a more enjoyable vacation. We tend to enjoy being alone as a couple on most vacations, but we must say, you and your friends & guests maintained the perfect balance of helpful, knowledgable, generous, entertaining and friendly, without being intrusive.
Negril has the most beautiful water, and Moonlight Villa on the cliffs has the most amazing views and access! Being able to go snorkeling or swimming from the back yard was a dream come true! And you can't ignore the most beautiful sunsets every night of the week! We also were so fortunate to have your connections like Vincent and his boating/snorkeling trips, and a piece of sand on 7-Mile Beach at Alfred’s. Finding the best restaurants was easy, thanks to you. We had our best dinner from right across the street, and TJ's restaurant up the alley became a favorite, all because of Jackie and her fantastic smile!
Debbie, your name in itself was a valuable commodity around town, introducing us to new friends, the best restaurants, and new experiences we never expected to enjoy, (i.e. the Julian Marley concert - Fantastic!). We were really able to "experience" the neighborhood as well as the best beach in the world! Traveling to another country or region should allow one to experience the culture and traditions as well as everyday life there. Too often though, by staying in a large hotel resort, you can easily become isolated from the very things that make a country or region unique and distinctly beautiful. We feel we found the "real" Jamaica at Moonlight Villa!
Probably the most amazing characteristic we discovered there was the feeling of joy, community and genuine friendliness of the people of Jamaica. We can't say enough about this! It has helped us to re-discover that which is most important in our lives. Debbie, we left Jamaica knowing that we have new friends, who we truly want to visit again. Thank You!
One Love!
